Never heard of that problem in my country...even the people with useless degrees will mostly get jobs, because they have an academic degree...if not, the problem mostly lies in the person itself and its (lack of) capabilities. I for example don't have a college / uni degree, and still have no problem finding work, which normally would require one. Just be ened, show you have potential, be able to sell your capabilities and you are good to go.

ah yes, ppl told me my degree was worthless but I went like: welp maybe its worth something somewhere else. moved there, got a job. firm back at "home" hit me up and poached me. (degree in PM) Unless you do shit that really doesnt get hired like philosophy or history or even more daring, art! and dont have a huge passion and talent in those fields you are screwed. for anyone else I can say: man/woman the fuck up and move it bitch. esp. talking to all these fuckin rats smooching off the social system here. not that our social system is shit or anything, at least there is help. but some fucks out there wanna be miserable and chained rather than free and moving. fuckin sad because we know there are ppl who legit need social help.

I got a biology degree You know what I can do with that? Apply (note I didn't say get in) to grad school or make barely over minimum in an expensive city as a lab assistant. Went back to school for comp sci and have been working since. What happened? I took my second degree much more seriously. Not just in marks but pursuing scholarships, checking out the job market in advance before even picking my degree. Seeing realistically if I can get a job with my degree as opposed to theoretically. Your degree being a minimum doesn't mean it will get you the job if the job also wants 5 years experience and trying to hire a masters degree at a bachelor's rate. Applied for jobs well before graduation because some interviews can take over 6 months (gov security). My advice to students; Start looking at the job market now, not near graduation. If your school doesn't offer co-op, it is a sign of the job market for that field in your area.

I'd say that the first 2 years of uni are probably the most difficult. At least, for me that was the case.

I studied languages and linguistics because I wanted to become a translator- turns out it’s really hard to get a foot in the door somehow and you’re freelance most of the time (which is okay but you never know how much you’re gonna make next month). Got a corporate job kinda related in another country and now I’m learning Python because it’s very interesting and at least IT should find you a job anywhere.
